About us

There has been a local Citizens Advice in the Welwyn Hatfield area since 1940.

The current Citizens Advice office in Queensway House, Hatfield was opened in July 1993 and has gone from strength to strength.

Citizens Advice Welwyn Hatfield provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone in the Welwyn Hatfield area on their rights and responsibilities.

We are part of the Hertfordshire Adviceline telephone service and also run various long-term and short-term funded projects covering areas such as homelessness prevention and disability benefits. For a list of these projects, please click here.

8 out of 10 people solve their problems with our help. Our wider social value can be seen in the way we bring local people together. Our 58 active volunteers donate over 300 hours per week, worth over £320,000 per year, and are committed to helping people with a wide variety of issues.

In 2018/19, we provided advice, support and information to 5,970 clients face to face or by telephone with 17.359 problems.

Citizens Advice Welwyn Hatfield is an independent charity governed by its own Board of Trustees.

All local Citizens Advice offices are members of the national organisation, Citizens Advice, which audits our effectiveness and quality of advice. You can see a list of all 10 Citizens Advice services in Hertfordshire here.
